Business Development Programs
 

The UC Davis Center for Entrepreneurship, a Center of Excellence at the Graduate School of Management, offers several business development programs designed to introduce graduate students, post-doctoral researchers and faculty members to the principles and practices of entrepreneurship and new business development.

  • Business Development Certificate Program — A one-year program that provides an introduction and hands-on experience in developing new business ventures designed to commercialize research and prepare researchers for a career in industry. Participants take courses in technology management, innovation and entrepreneurship as well as practicum courses working alongside MBA students.
  • UC Entrepreneurship Academy — A one-week entrepreneurship academy designed for science and engineering graduate students, postdoctoral researchers and faculty who want to learn to commercialize their research, explore business development before heading into a career in industry, or take the first steps toward launching a new venture. Open to applicants from throughout the University of California system.
  • Food and Health Entrepreneurship Academy — A one-week entrepreneurship academy for researchers working in foods for health, nutrition and wellness.
  • Green Technology Entrepreneurship Academy — A one-week entrepreneurship academy for researchers working in green and sustainable technologies.
  • Business Development and Entrepreneurship for MBAs — This multi-class program connects MBA students with world-class UC Davis researchers and engineers. Students gain hands-on experience in developing new business ventures and an opportunity to apply the skills developed in the core curriculum. Students take courses in Technology Management (MGT 250), Innovation Management (MGT 251), New and Small Business Ventures (MGT 244) and two practicum courses: Business Development Clinics (MGT 298–2, MGT 298–3).
